About this Website and Its Author

For this story, I have traveled the United States for three weeks in September 2016. My journey was funded by a Holbrooke Grant (The International Journalists’ Programms).

At Der Tagesspiegel, a German daily newspaper based in Berlin, I’m an editor and writer for the opinion pages. I’m also a contributing opinion writer for the New York Times.
